I don't know if this particular horse has already been beaten, but I avoided "Clash.." like the obvious cinematic plague it is and opted to spend a very, very satisfying 90 minutes watching "How to Train Your Dragon". The story is wonderful, the characters are hilarious, especially Toothless and those teenage Vikings, and the 3D is stunning, especially the flying sequences. (Ever had a flying dream? You'll be having deja vu when you see this film.) Obviously, a great deal of thought went into the depth process on this gem, because it's used beautifully to visually enhance the story every step of the way. The message of the film is important as well....it's much better to learn than to kill. Well, duh, but the point is driven home in a very cool way. I saw the previews to "...Dragon" and was underwhelmed, but a couple of glowing recommendations from people I trust...usually..made me take the $30 gamble at the IMAX. I'm really happy I went, and my very, very dubious spouse ("An animated 3D movie about dragons? On our one night off together? Puh-LEEZE!") adored it as well. As far as the upcoming deluge of inevitably crappy 3D movies...I can just hear the Hollywood suits saying, "Well if it's in 3D, maybe they won't notice that it's a turd! That's it!"...I paraphrase Los Bravos from their 1964 hit "Black is Black"...

I saw Clash of the Titans last night because my eldest son wanted to, and the movie itself blows (no big surprise there) but the 3D also blows. I could have been wearing some "X-Ray Specs" for all the difference the supposed 3D made. I took off the glasses on and off (I was really bored) and there was next to no difference watching with them or without them.

3-D should have many images that come off the screen and at the viewer, and this movie had zero such scenes. They better quit this conversion crap in a hurry, or 3D won't last as long as it did in 1953 and 1954.
