Old Master paintings are forged all the time. There are fakes of zillions of
inexpensive collectibles, and expensive collectibles alike. I once saw an
interview where a journalist took an FBI lab guy to a sports memorabilia
show and the FBI guy said it was obvious from a quick look that half the
items in the show were fake, and that he wouldn't be surprised if he found
(if he could take everything into the lab) that 90% of the items were fake.

Yet all these crooks want nothing to do with the comics hobby, because it is
too hard to fake items there (or pass off restored items as unrestored)?
Everyone said the same thing about movie posters, at least until last year,
and look how that worked out. And there are now million dollar comics/ If
THAT doesn't attract crooks and sleazeballs (assuming they are not there
already), I will be amazed.
