Bruce and I were talking about these cards just the other day, and he has what
looks to be (from the small scan in his archives) an unrestored one that has
the angled airplane and no 1937 re-release information. But the colors on the
card are certainly different from the colors on the 1930 release cards that are
in the Heritage archives.

Since this movie was released towards the end of 1930, I wonder if the card
above might be from 1931 - perhaps UA updated the campaign at that point and
did the angled airplane logo that was then used again in 1937? But I really
don't know.

If Grey is correct (and it certainly is possible he is), then I have been
sold cards so expertly altered that I was fooled (and even before Mendez, there
were other unscrupulous restorers who did such criminal alterations). I will do
as I always do in these situations and look back over the images of EVERY
Hell's Angels card we EVER sold and examine them, and if we find any suspicious
ones, we will e-mail the buyers of those cards and offer them a refund or price
adjustment, even if its been ten or twenty years. There's no "buyer beware" at
eMoviePoster.com.

I believe Heritage has sold more of these cards than anyone and I have
never seen an original card with the plane artwork at an angle nor have I ever
seen a 1937 reissue card with the plane artwork vertical!
All of the cards I have dealt with over the past twenty plus years on this
title have the original cards having the artwork in the vertical attitude with
the only info in the borders in the lower right saying, "Country of Origin,
U.S.A."
The 1937 reissue cards are always dated in the lower right with the plane
at an angle and a United Artist blurb at the lower left explaining that the
advertising material is the property of UA.
They used the exact same photos for each release on both sets.
I would be interested to see cards that prove otherwise as would be a new
one on me.

    It's a '37 re-release.

    Bruce has sold a few:
