Funnily enough, in last weeks UK version Antiques Roadshow, in a
segment where experts reveal what they'd most like uncovered, the
Metropolis US 1-sht was chosen.
The expert mentioned the few existent German posters, and recent price
achieved, yet thought if a US 1-sht turned up it could well be the
first movie poster to make 1 $ million.
Despite rarity, and the image being good (if it's the art I think it
is, full length image of robot?), I thought it nonsense to value it
higher than the amazing country of origin paper.
While there are a handful of examples of the German poster, a good
proportion of those are in museums and never coming to market.
Or am I missing something?

So what other major silent titles are there where not a single U.S.

Evan,
Yes, Heritage has sold the lobbies for this very rare horror title
and for record prices, one card exceeding $13,000.

The cards featuring the Golem are the hardest to find and though I
have never seen the set, I do know that a "dead" card sold for
almost $5100 with us a couple of years ago.
I am unaware of any large original U.S. Paramount paper from the
title still known to exist. I do know that a couple of the German
one sheets for the international release (without titles) done by
the great German poster artist Matejko, has traded hands over the
years.

Didn't Heritage sell some lobbies from The Golem just last year?

movie paper for The Golem?
Peter and Ken were talking about trading for lobby cards from The
Golem, and it occurred to me that I have NEVER seen any original
first release U.S. movie paper for The Golem (not even a herald or
glass slide, and I have had one or the other of those on just about
EVERY hard-to-find classic title). I remember Stan Caiden had some
foreign poster with cool art (but no writing at all), but that's all
I remember.
I THOUGHT maybe the reason for this was that the movie received a
very limited release in the U.S., but I am currently auctioning an
exhibitor magazine with an ad for The Golem on the front cover (see
it at http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=1937259
so obviously it got a significant U.S. release, for they saved
cover ads for major releases (and the cover ad says it broke a
record in Chicago and "played all summer" in New York City).
So where the heck are all the lobby cards and posters?
