Thank you very much for the valuable input. I have asked the BFI for details of the original image and I will report back if they reply. It seems a very odd image to be selling copies of, given the staining and damage to the original. In the meantime I've managed to find a picture of a British trade ad that sold at Sothebys London in 1999. It uses the same central image/typography, though with a different layout. Importantly, though, it seems to have the same blurb (though I've almost done my eyes in trying to read it!). What's really throwing me about this one, though, is the thing that looks like a censor mark. I can't find a single example of that appearing on a trade ad at that time, presumably because not intended for public consumption. Perhaps it's not a censor mark after all(it's an unusual placing), but some other similar-looking device.
