MY THOUGHTS ON EBAY --
I have a couple of problems with the new EBAY deal on shipping. First
of all, now that all shipping is free (included in the price of the
item), we end up having to charge customers in our state sales tax on
both shipping and the item. Secondly, when we ship overseas, the
foreign customer ends up paying for the included domestic shipping as
well as the foreign shipping that's added. EBAY is frustrating
because they took something that was reasonably priced and
uncomplicated and made it expensive and hard to follow and work with.
It's so complicated now, I find it difficult to discern exactly how I
would find it most advantageous to use the system.
What I suspect will happen, when they ultimately fire the Harvard MBAs
that have sat around jerking off and destroying the platform for the
last few years is this:
EBAY will send a letter out saying "You spoke and we listened." We
are removing all the changes we've made in the last ten years and
going back to the original simple model with the original pricing,
fees, etc. Let's get back to basics!

As for a site dedicated to posters, surely both HA, BH and RH fill
the void, each in their own ways.

This is pretty old news (as far as the announcement at least).
Pretty soon someone will start a real alternative to ebay, and I
think poster dealers and collectors will flock to it.
