I totally echo Peter's position

Let me be the first. I personally love catalogs. They are great reference material and for me it is really nice to grab one off the shelf and sit back and enjoy. Particularly when they are done well as Heritage does. It’s also nice to be able to walk away from the computer(the idiot box of the 21st century)and leaf through images on paper, which is what we collect in the first place. Unfortunately, the economic reality is that catalogs are terribly expensive to produce so as time passes they will no doubt be phased out. I doubt the present amount of catalogs issued are devastating the world’s tree population, particularly since so much paper is made from farmed trees, soft woods and something like 43% of paper worldwide is recycled. But even if that weren’t the case I would still be ok with it. Now junk mail, that’s a different story…

at the risk of being shot down in flames, i must say that i personally find printed catalogues a bit antidiluvian and anti-tree in 2011. i guess some people might consider them nice keepsakes, especially re: the big auctions, but surely it's all about acquiring the actual posters?
or did i miss a meeting down at the docks?

Why can't we all just get along?

I'm aware that people are sent catalogs for free, based on their past
purchases. I was posing a simple question to the originator of the
post, Michael.

Not sure why this query has you answering for him or causing you to
spit out your drink.

Take a breath and relax. lol
