I think its great that Debbie has been rewarded for her passion....
same when a collector cashs in after years of collecting. its the
reward of being a good steward..
sure without the marketing and the venue and all you get less.. and
remember she has to probably take many of the costs off the top and
the commission..

However that Lady has paid her dues and really tried to save the
collection from a auction.. they had tried to get funds to open the
Museum in Tennesee
and had countless meetings with banks and lenders and all.. the
Auction was the last ditch effort as they had debt from the Vegas
museum and the banks wanted
to call in the note... so I just hope after she covers the debt she
still ends up with some cash... then thers Uncle sam.. however
Debbies at a age where
she probably can get that one time exclusion. Ithink its great,,, she
was able to save and preserve soe of themost noted costumes in Movie
history..

I think the collection was valued at 50 million...

the facilty in Tennesee looked like a Giant paddleboat and was a new
Build..
the entire park was to have had a nascarmuseum and other
attractions.. But thebanks all bailed out as the economy was so bad...

She has stressed over this like a year and she was just so tired to
keep going on... None of the studios would help or the big guys,,

what I hope could happenn is that the buyers could see the wisdom to
still Move on with Debbies Dream and locate the items in a actual
museum setting so thepublic can share the splendor of Film
hoistory..this way the owner of each peiice could get a rental or
stipend or tax write off and have it in a safe climate controlled
museum enviroment with a staff of archivists attending..
and it could be a cohesive collection... vs,, breaking it up and
storing in boxes all over the world... I hope they chroncal the
ownership.

I remember when they found Burt Lahrs costiume in a trash heap all
disintegrating.
If you think its just the Visual and historic representation of the
memory and the film or start associated and all these items where
from the height of the Movie industry and when they had Movie
stars...
Debbie Reynolds passion and determination has been unequaled by
anyone.. she is truly a role model for anyone who has experienced
adversity. I respect her and her son Todd very much.
They deserve the best for all there dedication to building that
collection.
Bravo Debbie and Todd!

best, Tom
