Hi Rich
I agree with you. Its interesting that I had quite a few "Offlist" replies to the questions I raised on MoPo. It seems that some think that any discussion about eBay is likely to cause friction. eBay probably still is the largest marketplace for original movie posters despite the fact that they keep changing their gourndrules so I would have thought some discussion is relevant.
Regards
John

John, the answer is...

fleaBay listings drop every year in Oct-Dec in total number. so fleaBay, trying to capture lost revenue, has these Free or 1penny listing days or nickel or whatever so that people load the site up to make up for fewer listings otherwise. Obviously, they are seeing some positive expectation each week, so they keep running the promotion. Because there are no parameters, you get people who might not otherwise list lots of stuff to go completely overboard, and others who want to list cheap stuff that they might not be able to justify listing fees on hundreds or thousands of items.

unfortunately, most of the material listed is either just super-over priced merch, or complete garbage and it doesn't do much to get actual fair bid auctions listed. so the extra listings not only have no use to someone like myself as a buyer and actually make it completely cumbersome to sift through 500 extra pages of listings. so anything I might have been interested that was listed yesterday, in all likelihood I will miss because I'm never going to be able to get through all those pages.

the people who list those useless placeholders, like svejlandusa, who apparently is here in Vegas (I do not even know who it is, nor does Cinema Collectors know) are the most aggravating because it take 15 minutes just to scroll through page after page of his non-listings

I can definitely see why dealers with store might get pissed off.. you're really getting screwed monetarily AND your listings disappear in all the garbage

fleaBay sucks!!
