After reading this and a couple other articles about this, along with the seller, Glafira Rosales, the gallery that sold these works should be held 100% responsible as well as this Rosales woman. When reding that there was really no solid paperwork about the provenance of many of these supposed masterworks, it then falls onto the shoulders of the gallery, famed and established or not, to verify said works.
Although, from this and other articles, as well, it sounds like verbal verification, without actual paperwork, can be commonplace, when sold by large and respected galleries. The point is, even for those high end galleries, a verbal verification means nothing, when these kinds of allegations surface. The gallery and this Rosales woman should be sued to the hilt. The other red flag, IMO-- the "mysterious, unnamed original owner" of these works. It sounds like the original, rich Mexican / Swiss owner was probably cranking these out in his basement or sun room...lol -KL On Sat, Dec 3, 2011 at 5:44 AM, Bruce Hershenson <[email protected]>wrote: > Possible Forging of Modern Art Is Investigated > > * > http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/03/arts/design/federal-inquiry-into-possible-forging-of-modernist-art.html?_r=1&emc=eta1 > * > > -- > Bruce Hershenson and the other 25 members of the eMoviePoster.com team > P.O.
