I avoid using it too, but that’s because the adhesive layer is so
difficult to remove, and because of the bleeding Helmut mentions, i.e. it’s
not
always completely reversible over time. I haven’t heard about it being
non-acid-free though. There’s an interesting discussion on a framer’s forum
here,
including a comment from one of the manufacturer’s product managers:-

Like Helmut, I recently switched to the Hayaku paper where practical, but
even with this there are pros and cons. I guess in the end it’s a question
of the value/importance of the poster, and whether or not the repair is
actually likely to need reversing at some stage in the future.
Taking it to the extreme, there’s some research being done in Canada (do
they do anything else in Canada but research?!) – still a work in progess,
but they’ve published a report on this site:

The relevant link on the page is entitled “Update on the CCI Adhesive Tape
and Heat-Set Tissues Project”, but it’s a large PDF file, so DON’T CLICK
ON IT unless you’re ready for it to bring your computer to a grinding halt
while it downloads.

Helmut,
Can you site where you found filmoplast P90 will turn in the immediate?
I mean if you are saying several decades down the line, maybe that's
being a tad over zealous. The problem with the product you recommended is
that when shoring up a cross fold
I have found it make refolding the paper makes it too bulky because the
tape is thicker than filmoplast90. However for edge tears
I guess is fine, I just don't like the weight. Obviously using either is
better than using Scotch Tape, Duct Tape, Strapping Tape or my favorite
I once received, the sticky parts of an adhesive Band-Aid
