THAT'S a cool story!
Hmmm... well, I had the Frankenstein and Dracula mini-reprints I ordered from 
Captain Company / Famous Monsters when I was 6. When I was 8, I found a Blazing 
Saddles poster in the trash behind the theater. It was missing the top right 
corner piece, so you couldn't see his peace-signed fingers, but I didn't care. 
I still have what's left of 'em 'round here somewhere.

first poster I ever bought (that I can recall) was a Beast From 
20,000 Fathoms 1sh along with a Thing From Another World 1sh back in 
1968 at the NY Comicon. Later that day I bought a DTESS pressbook.
sadly, though I made a profit, I didn't own any of these items for a 
full day as I sold them all and bought other stuff the same day, that 
I sold and made more money on before the weekend was out
