Hello fellow movie poster collectors/sellers,

This morning we posted a list of 700 Greek movie poster on MoPo, but
apparently some people experienced problems with the message so here it is
again without all image links.

Last year we posted a list of Greek movie posters a contact of ours wanted
us to sell for them on MoPo and at other places. At that time the list was
far from complete and did not contain conditions and images. In the past few
months our contact has been very busy taking photographs and compiling the
list of all available titles. Most posters are from the fifties till around
2006 in many different genres including lots of foreign cinema (i.e. Russian
movies). Greek posters come in a variety of sizes, with different types of
artwork/design, before being almost completely replaced by one sheet size
Greek posters. On average they are around 11x16 inches. However, a lot of
them are larger (up to one sheet size) and many others are smaller.

Greek posters are smaller in size and most of them were printed on thicker
stock which is the reason some people confuse them with lobby cards. Greek
posters were actually used in cinemas as posters, including style A/B, and
did not come in sets, as opposed to lobby cards. Some titles might look like
lobby cards because of the layout and use of photos, but others contain full
artwork either new/unique or "borrowed" taking on the best qualities of
several other countries movie posters. Greek designers didn't hesitate to
mix artwork together, sometimes even bordering on amateurism, resulting in
crazy/goofy looking designs containing misspellings. Probably because of the
religious background of the country, posters for erotic/pornographic films
and/or artwork featuring nudity are rare, but there are a few exceptions.

It doesn't do justice to Greek poster to qualify them as (Mexican) lobby
cards because they share some similarities with them. Unlike Mexican lobby
cards that are so abundant and are normally B&W stills surrounded by a
little artwork; Greek posters look like a cross between Egyptian
lobbies/posters and Italian photobustas. The larger posters are similar to
Yugoslavian in style with a lot more color while the smaller posters are
very similar in size and style to Czech posters. Even the ones without
images have a more exotic look like Egyptian and Arabic posters/cards. There
actually were/are sporadically Greek lobby card sets available that are
around 8x10 inch or A4 in size. Small(er) sized posters were, and still are
used all over Europe. Therefore we prefer to compare them more to other
(smaller) types of posters used in Europe or Arabic/African countries.
However, posters from Greece are pretty rare compared to most of these other
non-English posters.

Most of the text in the document is written by the seller and almost all
photos were taken by him. We've tried to correct and clean text/images as
much as possible. So please excuse us for (spelling) errors or unclarities.
Below this message is a preview of some titles and images.

We want to emphasize the fact that it's a rare opportunity for such a nice
collection of Greek posters to be available to the collectors market.

Please contact us for any questions or if you are interested in buying one
or more posters. Some posters are available in varying conditions and
therefore numbered 1, 2 etc. or styles A, B etc. Please specify which poster
you are interested in.
Prices will be negotiated between potential buyers and the seller. Don't
hesitate to make us an offer If you have a price in mind. Buying the entire
lot for your collection, business or auctions is also an option.
This poster collection is for the largest part stored at the seller's
location in Greece, but all orders will be shipped by us via registered air

take place first.

Thank you for reading and have a great weekend,
Ron and Alexandra
