well then, let me save you from having to contact the winning bidder
AFTER your auction ends
this poster is supposed to be a re-issue. I'd love it to be a first
issue as I have a couple of them, but re-issue is what a well known
French dealer told me it is

We spend a MASSIVE amount of time determining if posters we auction
are from the very first release or from an early re-release, and we
guarantee that EVERY poster we auction is from the release we say it
is from (except for Italians, because truly NO ONE has any real
guidelines for knowing first releases, and they re-released so many
movies so many times).
On those occasions when we discover that a poster is NOT from the
release we thought it was from, we go back throughout our 800,000+
previous auctions and find every time we auctioned that same poster
incorrectly, and then we e-mail those buyers, offering to take it
back for a full refund (including shipping) even when it has been
many years since we made that sale!
This costs us well over $1,000 every month, and sometimes much more
(in re-auctioning the posters properly identified as our own
consignments, and taking the loss from the lowered result) and of
course there is also the cost of the labor involved in finding these
mistakes and e-mailing about them, but it is well worth it because
it gives our buyers COMPLETE "peace of mind" when buying from us
(and separates us from every other major auction, all of whom
operate on the "buyer beware" philosophy, where they take zero
responsibility for ALL errors they make).
Here is a recent example of an "error" e-mail we sent, telling of
our error, and our discovery of the error:
"This is Bruce. I'm e-mailing you regarding your purchase of an ON
THE TOWN Danish R60s on 11/24/2009 for $65.00. At the time we
auctioned this poster (several years ago!), we believed it was the
first release poster. But we recently discovered that the poster is
actually a 1960s re-release. Know that if you still own the poster,
then you are welcome to return it to us for a full refund (and we
will even pay the return shipping, as long as you send it by an
inexpensive method), because we guarantee everything we sell, no
matter how long it is after the sales date! Of course, you may have
sold the poster, or you may prefer to keep it even with knowing the
new information (assuming you did not know it at the time you
purchased it). Either way, please let us know right away whether you
want to keep it or return it (and if you want to return it, we will
send you easy-to-follow instructions). We are the only auction we
know of who offers refunds for mistakes even YEARS after the fact,
and we are also the only one we know of who tracks down the buyers
and doesn't wait for them to discover the mistake themselves! We
await your reply."
In this case, that particular buyer replied as follows:
"Hi, Bruce and other eMoviePoster folks.
I greatly appreciate your notice to me that a Danish poster of "On
the Town" that I purchased in 2009 was mistakenly described back
then. I plan to print out and retain a copy of your notice with my
records. However, while I appreciate your offer to return it for a
full return, I plan to keep the poster for now and will not need to
take you up on your offer. It is truly gratifying to see that your
organization goes to great lengths to ensure that the posters is
sells are accurately described, and that you stand behind the
products you sell, even well after the initial sale. Thank you for
this notification and do keep up the good work!"
Of course, this gives us MUCH greater incentive to make very few
listing mistakes!
