*Fun factoids about **Dmytryk and his much younger wife:* Super youthful and perky, Jean Porter was a teenage actress who played "kid sisters" or high school or college coeds in lots of MGM comedies of the 1940s. When she was in Till the End of Time in 1946, she fell in love with married director Edward Dmytryk, who was 17 years her senior, and he divorced his wife and they got married and had three kids.
A year later he was caught up in the HUACC hearings and was blacklisted, and his Hollywood career was over, and he went to England to work, and Jean stayed with him. In 1951 he returned to the U.S. and went to jail for six months, and then agreed to testify against his former fellow members of the Hollywood Ten, alienating those who had stood by him, but not Jean. He became a film professor, and he and Jean stayed married until his passing at age 90 in 1999! Jean is still with us at age 87, and she has attended many fan events and has even written for Classic Images magazines! It just goes to show you that *SOME *Hollywood marriages can last a very long time, even ones that face much adversity!
