Subject: [MOPO] HOW DO I SELL 12,000 PRESSBOOKS?

I have been a serious collector of pressbooks since I was 8 years old (I am
now 51). I have amassed a collection of almost 12,000 pressbooks from the
mid 1940's through appr. 1983. A good portion of them have no cuts. They
have been stored in temperature controlled conditions in stacks for each
studio (as many were the same size so they stack well). I have a database
list of all of them with the title, year, location in the stacks (though
they are in alphabetical order). I have NOT graded them or done a page count
on each. I've continue upgrading by buying many from Bruce in his auctions,
and Bruce it is so good to see more pressbooks in the auctions.

I have noticed the auction final prices for pressbooks has been rising. I
assume collectors are starting to take more interest in them.

I have all the Hitchcocks (after about 1945), Elvis, over 150 huge roadshow
pressbooks, you name it it is probably there. I would say I have about 75%
of the 1950's, 85% of the 1960's and about 90% of the 1970s. Too bad
pressbooks got smaller each decade.

I found out that I have an illness in which I want to enjoy my life now, and
certainly do not want to auction these off individually. I am going to see
what I can do selling them off as a collection. I thought of trying an ad in
the Hollywood Reporter or Variety, as certain people in the movie industry
might be interested, or a film library of some kind. I did send a letter to
Turner Classic Movies, I thought they might be interested.

Can anyone give me their thoughts on this? I am assuming I probably have the
biggest collection next to Bruce, aside from any libraries like the Motion
Picture Academy. Maybe I am wrong.

-Robert
