I won't mention the obvious stuff, like "take as many forms of payment as possible," "buy with as few clicks as possible," I think that's more or less universal.
I greatly appreciate a site that will store my "want" criteria and send me an email when a new item matching my wantlist is added to the site-owner's inventory. Bruce's site does this, as does Heritage. For any site that sends periodic emails and updates, provide a means by which I can temporarily suspend delivery with one click, and then restore delivery with another click, without having to re-enter my information, my wantlist, etc. It's also nice if a site's search facility has somewhere I can go to understand exactly how their search syntax works. For example: Does star wars mean the same thing as "star wars"? If I search for star wars will I get everything that has either star or wars, or will I only get results that have those two words one right after the other? I would like to be confident that my searches are doing what I think they're doing. If a site can remember (via a cookie) the last time I visited, and enable me to see "what's new" since my last visit, that's great. There should be an easy way to ask a question about a particular item, without having to type the item # or other identifying info into the email I'm sending. Avoid use of Flash, or provide a mobile version of the site that doesn't use Flash, so that I can use your site from my iPad. iPads and iPhones don't speak Flash. Grading criteria and return policy should be clearly spelled out. > -----Original Message----- > From: MoPo List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Alan > Adler > Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2013 08:47AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [MOPO] Mopos WHO BUY FROM websites! > > Dear Mopos WHO BUY FROM websites! > > We've shared a great thread on the pros and cons of building and running a > website. > > Now, would any mopos and mo-pros who spend time surfing - or even better, > actually buying - from existing websites, be willing to share their > thoughts and experiences. > > What makes your favorite sites, your favorites? > What are a site's must-haves or things you dislike about sites you've > visited? > What would your dream site be like? > > Thanks in advance for your time. > > Alan Adler > Museum of Mom and Pop Culture > > Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com > ___________________________________________________________________ > How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List > > Send a message addressed to: [email protected] > In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L > > The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
