I posted this to a couple of friends just now, and I thought I'd share my
thoughts with MOPO.
There was, for me, always something very transparent about the pain that Robin
Williams tried to
deflect with his work. Sometimes the pain just wins. God bless him, I think
he gave more than he took.
While I was not an active, huge fan, I always was amazed by his talent. I felt
he was a genuine friend to gay people as well as the all around mensch as the
man in the story relates. I knew people who knew him back in the early 70s (in
SF).
That old demon alcohol.
