According to various news reports in CA, the legislature is probably going to revisit this law in the new year, because it is so poorly written. The likelihood of a big wave of enforcement starting this week in CA is also unlikely. As it is now, the Certificate of Authenticity is so complicated that authors couldn't do book signings of their own books in CA nor could performers sign autographs, for example, at Comic-Con since admission is charged for Convention access or for individual autographs... unless the heavy and expensive certification requirement was met. The intent was to stop companies that are engaged in wholesale forgery of memorabilia.
