wow..Adam was a good man i dod not know this...
in like 1985 we met at a comic convention in Detroit,, and i said can i
help you get back as Batman in the new movie..he gave me his address and
phone and we started to write and call ..became friends..
I sold his book autobiography "back to the Batcave" in trades and a
magazine called Boomers..and comic buyers guide, Movie collectors
world.... tehn my business started a campaign with memorabilia shops to
get warner bros and dc to use him in the 1989 film ,,
i even sent it to David letterman.. so memorabilia shops and comic shops
all signed the petition from coast to coast shops ...
then one day i saw the Batmobile was coming to a local Toledo Northtowne
Mall and i thought hmmmm I had just Booked him a gig at a comic
convention in Indiapolis ,indiana and thought we could easy fly
piggyback him to Toledo to do the mall...as the main cost of flight was
from westcoast to Indiana,, so a puddle jumper was low cost.. and his
fee could be lower for the appearance////
when I called the mall manager and said would you like Adam west to
appear?? he seemed like he thoughtI was crazy... and did not think I was
serious...i wanted my son to see adam and said we can do this...
So i call Adam and say the guy does not believe me could you do a
conference call and explain this is real??
he agreed and we called and the guy then was acting like i had a
impostor calling in with a Adam West voice... Adam said: : "yes Tom
comes up with some strange ideas but he has creative ideas".... and when
we discussed the fact he had to name the mall as added in his liability
insurance in case of Riots the guy finally believed us,,can you even
imagine that Phone call??? it was a hoot..
To give you a idea of Adams class we sold stills and posters at the show
mall and he spilt the proceeds with us..
without hesitation..
so when he did the mall we had a great turnout, i was able to get a
proclamation from the mayor and
I took Adam on a tour of the city with my ex and son.. we stopped at the
mansion view inn a old mansion in old west end Toledo i thought would
be a great Wayne Manor and my friend owned it...he was outside and i
pulled in with Adam and said hey could my friend (didnt say who)see your
place,,,,he said well we are closed now,, and so we didnt get in ,,later
the guy was in shock when I said I had ADam west in the car that night..
So when we went to dinner one night, I wanted to take him to "Tony
Packos" are local famous placae where celebrities sign Hot dog buns as a
tardition..
ironically Tonys nephew is named Robin Horvath so i called and they
where excited that he come... but Adam saod lets go somewhere else... so
he chose "OLIVE GARDEN -on Monroe street-Toledo....so as we went in I
said to the woman at the door mquietly in her ear..please get us a set
fast ,,thats ADam west with me..she looks at me and says whos Adam
west??(TRUR story( she was a young woman who bprobably had no idea who
he was..so we stood waiting for aset seemed like eternity...
then as we sat down someone must have told someone Adam was her and soon
we where surrounded by people that wanted autographs and to welcome
him..I was so relieved as I wondered if he had lost his popularity...
he seemed like he just gets thats all the time once they know its him...
so he said some really cool things to me over the years..when i was
promoting the book and sales where not great i felt unsuccessfull my ex
said why are you doing this???( i kept trying to promote the book and
help him get in the 1989 film with much rejection )
ADAM said while we where on te phone.."tell her your exercising" and i
always remember when i am doing ads and all i am just exercising...he
also said: wht you got to remember tom is nobody really knows anything..
and he is right..we all try new things and old things but are all bozos
on the bus... ill never forge his wisdom..Adam suffered so many lows and
highs from the business.and i think at he end he was accepted as the
Batman everyone loved ,,but he was also rejected so many times by dc/wb
and it hurt him..
I have many letters written in his hand one day I said:" Adam as a
dealer of memorabilia these are the Holy grail of Batman history as we
talked in detail of his Ideas to do the 1989 film
he was very able to do..
I gave him my oath that i would never sell them or disclose them while
he was alive by my own not that he asked me as i just thought it was
rude
and he said I know i know..but I said Adam this is tv/movie pop culture
history and its important that everyone know this side of you..AT ONE
POIBNT I THOUGHT THE WAY MY HEALTH WAS GOING THE DAY WOLD NEVERCOME HE
WOULD NEED TO EVER WONDER AS HE WAS DOING WELL.. BUT I STILL THINK IT
MUST BE SHARED AS ITS PART OFHIS LEGACY..WHAT ALWAYS BUGGED ME ABOUT OUR
INDUSTR AS WE SELL THE MEMORYS TO CASH IN ON MANY OF TEH SRAS
LIVES,,,BUT WITH ADAM WE BOTH KNEW THEY WWHERE HISTORIC DOCUMENTS THAT
SAVED A PART OF HSITORY OF HIS LIFE.. SO SOME DAY I WILL SEE THAT THEY
GO SOMEWHERE WHERE THEY CAN BE SAVED FR HISTORY..AND FUTURE HISTORIANS
OF THE BATMAN STORY..
so his wife and he gave my son when he was born his 1st communion
jammies..and thats was Dec 1986......so its been like 31 years sincei
met Adam whos real name was Bill Anderson (his wife calls him
Bill).Originally from walla walla ,,,wash..he lived in Ketchum
Idaho... and his wife was the ex wife of lear jet and from France...they
have great kids and his 1st son by previous marriage..I havent even seen
Adam for years last i saw him was in Detroit maybe in like 1995 with my
son my sons 30 now so its been a long time.. but the memories are
fresh,,,It was a honot to Know Adam andGod bless him and best to the
family anyone that met him im sure has good memories.. he was truly on
of the good guys.. and made a impact in my life as one of my life
teachers/mentors
God bless you Adam?Bill and Thank You so much for your honesty, and
giving me a break and your kindness..
best To Marcel and Kids

I grew up in the 50's and 60's and was a huge Batman fan. My friends

Batman"!!! Had a chance to meet him several times over the years and
he was such a nice person. Sorry to hear of his passing.
