I love to hear storys like that...i had 2 times in my life in this
busienes well actually 3...one day a guy came in my shop and had lobby
cards.. he said whee under the kitchen linoleum andwhere used as
shims...a complete set of phanton of the opera- the nelson eddy version,
Flnn cards, and many other great titles... i soldthem in the 80s and got
at thhe time good money like 600.00
another guy brought in Rlled 1920s posters he found ina attic..
one time i went toa michigan home and the entire attice was insulated in
sat even posts from the 30s and they where in like mint shape..
the day reagan was shot i was at hirsches bookstore last days of going
out of business...in his stor basement he had in boxes 100 boxes of
10000 each postcards from the 30s 40s and 50s he never sold.s...i saw a
few in his store and said ill buy all you have...he said come here
sonny..and he also had old books, some old toys, all kinds of stuff he
just disnt fnd much interest..so it was so heavy it blew out my van
tires as they said raegan had been shot and my battery went dead... had
to get a tow truch to raise the van to geta new tire on....
I sold the bulk lcally toa magazine distrbution co who put hem out at
local shops.. i still havea hand full left..
thenin the 80s we could still find warehouse full of stuff..unsld things
by the truckfull....we just hasd a small network of dealers and we would
trade or wholsale..to each other-preinternet...soi found gumby stuff,
bond, andtoys like major matt mason, and even doll stuff for tammy and
others it was a different time then now... so i love when i see there
are still clusters out there,,,
in like 1980 was when i saved the famous drive in tickets i give to
people when they order they range from the 50s ,60s 70 s and so they are
drive in history...my ex wife said why do you want to save all hese
tickets??? i said well they are history andthiey are not maed
anymore,,,,the theater guys also thought why would he want old flyers
and this tuff..and ive saved them 40 years but people love them as
theyare genuine and take us back in time when things where different
so hats off to all you geeky romper room rejects like me who giggle when
they play with old stuff...as its fun...keep having fun and we all can
enjoy the stuff....that dreams are made of....LOL:)

Great story. And, incidentally, not the first time I’ve heard of
posters being found under carpets!
