Walter, The nightmare one sheet of all time.
I¹d be cautious of rolled examples in quantity. Even 20-odd years ago the rolled one sheet was really hard to come by, but when it v. occasionally did surface they were always genuine (the safe banker). They had Printed in U.S.A.¹ bottom left, nothing bottom centre and NSS 820007¹ bottom right. The only folded examples I¹ve personally seen and felt to be genuine also have those same details, but there are other variants I¹ve never seen in person. Around 2000, phonies of the genuine rolled one sheet suddenly started to appear regularly. Whoever made them had managed to avoid the black-to-brown colour shift, but in doing so had made the title red too rich and contrasty. If you knew the genuine ones first hand they were an instant spot, but were otherwise pretty well done. This was at a time when the almost certainly phoney folded one sheet had been around for quite a while and was starting to be challenged: this measures 27²x41², has Blade Runner¹ and 820007¹ bottom right, super- blurry GAU logo, Litho in USA¹ and Property of National Screen etc¹ details bottom centre, and nothing bottom left. On these posters the true black colours have shifted in the reproduction to dark browns (as commonly happens), with a weaker Blade Runner¹ title red colour. But, most dammingly, the faint ghost of the original/source printing¹s NSS 820007¹ and Printed in U.S.A.¹ still just visible in the corners on very close inspection. We were fortunate enough a few years ago to be able do a totally unprompted comparison test between two folded BR one sheets with one of the film¹s original producers at Warners and he instantly identified this one as a fake. Difficult to believe that any variants that have this ghost printing¹ could be genuine without pretty improbable explanations. So genuine rolled one sheets obviously do exist and more may well have surfaced since then. But it appeared to v.scarce two decades ago with a subsequent flood of phonies over many years, so..... Now even more variations have been catalogued to scratch our heads over, the whole title needs a Voigt-Kampff test Tim MPAG London On 16/07/2018, 06:37, "Walter Reuben" <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello all > I have forgotten the points to consider with Blade Runner one sheets that > determine whether or not one is authentic or a repro. > I was sent a few rolled ones on consignment, they have an NSS 82007 code > number in bottom right. > I tried searching online but I could not find a link that clearly explains > what I need to know. > Could somebody please clue me in? > thanks > Walter Reuben > www.walterfilm.com <http://www.walterfilm.com> > > > > > > > To unsubscribe from the MoPo-L list, click the following link: > https://listserv.american.edu/scripts/wa-american.exe?SUBED1=MoPo-L&A=1 > Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [email protected] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
