thanks so Much
Paul..
I was trying to help make a deal for 2 filmmakers....one is name Paul...and hes been doing self distribution however wants to expand... we have a local distributor that serves library's exclusively..they just builta 10 million dollar warehouse..the man who founded it was like a mile from myold retail store and was a videostor retailer back in 1983,,,then they found a niche and supplied all of USA and canada..when i called they said they get mypeople title already from ,.. why i like his offerings he's in Detroit..and doed vintage restoration of old historic comedies..he just did mack sennett and Fatty arbuckle...I think he woma awards for his Stooges material and was inpartnership with TCM.....I would loveto put you in touch...

Ive just thought maybe i could help people as the most important thing seems to be fair honest deals.,,however im limited bec of health eyesight..so yet i can still old school Gab ..so the palcei am speaking Of Paul.is Midwesttape.com and they are in Holland which is by the airport of Toledo..they seem like all good guy show ever I need to sit with them to make sure we are on the same page,,i like librarys...and they also do audio books.. I told Leslie Zemeckis who has done several well recived documentarys..however they said they carry her work from a agregator,,,thenPauls stuffsame...except I think they may be interested in his new stuff.... My old friends in the Business were VPD...that was based in Cal however had a sataite depot in Toledo...wellPerrysburgh...Thats whereall my video posters came from years ago as every month they sold me the remainerd...they are gone..and paramount home video,wb home video,Disney,lComtron,Ingram HBO savoy,,all were customers...then I got a divorce and sick..so itall went crazy..i felt like a obsolete .vhs deck....

so my son sent me a podcastandithough whodoi know that still doed it all..andits so complicated..however if people likeyou help me/..I thinki could help put deals together or help[ find like minded filmmakers who justwanta fair deal...with the amazon and streaming and whatever..it could be achallenge.... however hopefully i could help a few people,,,ofallthe companys i worked with Disney treayed me the best..when they owed me money they would say TOm do you need ustocuta check sooner>>>> good people ,,now that was 20 years or more but Ive found more are seeing that treationgother right is paramount..Paul check out Pauls sitecinemuseumllc.com Leslies site is Leslie Zemeckis.com..shes Roberts wife..great woman andlikes to preserve history of eclectic films...material....
My head hurts from listening to the podcast of the

so much to learn,...,I was a former booking agent so i think ifI was taught the ropes i would be a good potential dealmaker

thanks again for the help and Kindness sir

all my best, Tom!

Hi Tom, the market is continuously changing even year to year now.
Here’s a quick overall explanation of how a film is distributed
nowadays.

The standard right now for smaller non-studio films is to release day
and date which means releasing the film in a limited number of
theaters and releasing the Film digitally through specific platforms.
Those platforms are usually Transactional VOD which are your local
cable providers where you can rent/buy the movie through your set-top
box, it also includes your online VOD outlets like iTunes, Amazon,
X-Box, etc.

The next Window usually is anywhere from 30-60 days later which is
Physical Release which includes DVD and Blu-Ray. Redbox rentals can
either be before or after the physical release depending on the size
of the title.

Next window after that are varied but most are doing Pay-TV which are
limited to Showtime, HBO, Stars and Epix. If you are lucky you may be
able to also exploit your Cable TV window which is basically defined
as everything else that’s not included in your Local Free TV channels.

Next window is your Subscription VOD which is the streaming services
like Netflix and Hulu+.

Most films won’t get a lot of sales in the next windows which is your
Local Free TV channels.

There are a lot of other smaller revenue streams like AVOD which is
Advertised based VOD and similar like VOD streams but the above pretty
much lays out distribution in nutshell.

As for getting a distributor on board it’s best to have them hire a
Producers Rep or Agent/Manager to help navigate the waters of film
distribution. They will help find a Domestic Distributor to handle all
of the above windows and help find a International Sales Agent to help
sell the international territories. Most distributors and sales agents
will only deal with professionals who know how these things work as
opposed to a random filmmaker that usually hasn’t a clue.

That’s unfortunately just the reality of the marketplace right now.

All the best.

Sincerely,

Paul W. Hazen

hello Paul
I have questions on Film distribution
and distributors.
I had several friends who Have films i tried to help get a deal..the issue at the vendors is they want like 50 titles or already carry from a aggregator/I just listened To a podcast on the AFM//between international dist,VOD and so many outletsits changed.so much fromjusta dvd..or theatrical release..Now withsocial media. Hulu, amazon.netflix .it seems to be changing every day. I want to help andthe end ofthePOdvvcast the woman says Honesty is the best whendealing with others,,I was taken aback as it seems the Industry is veryscared .The onlything I bring tothe table is ilike all sides to geta fair deal. whenpeople resist ive foundtheyare just scared or try to negociate the best terms however its no good if no one honors the deal..eveniftheyagree to lofty deals... My experiencehas been that its when times are the toughest, you see who the people are as how many times do we lose we think oona deal...only to have made a friend long term that helps us down the road because we were fair and didnt

deceive them..I wondered ifit mattered inthese times..andive cometoconclusion it does as ourentire lives are simply dealing with others,,I want to help others get fair dealshonest ones as i love creative ppeople,,,however I need a education..andnot sure im thinking curent... same withtheatricalkl exhibition..to me its simple..people dontwant togoto movies bec of cost, thelow quality food. andconcern safty that the bullets they hearon screen may be real fromactual guns..as the sound is so trueandthe muzzle fladssh ,, it used to be FUN to share a event withotherpeople..now days they can watch unlimited film pause at any time..see several features ina night..kids no cost..however thebig screen and FUN is whats missing...IMHO btw paul.POsteriati has a 2001 still onsale youmaylike i saw..please advise, Tom
