THE MANY THOUSANDS OF MONDO BIDDERS CRASHED OUR SITE, JUST AS THE AUCTIONS STARTED TO CLOSE.
Of course we very much apologize to everyone affected. It is noted on our site that if the auctions are not accessible to most bidders when they are closing, we will extend the affected auctions, and that is what we are doing, as follows: 1) ALL of the auctions will be extended by 24 hours 2) The auctions will now close 6 seconds apart, instead of 3, so they will end between 3 PM CST and 7 PM CST on Monday 3) NONE of the auctions have actually closed, regardless of what your monitor says until they are reset. This is because no one could access any of the auctions while they were closing, so the ones that appeared to close will also be extended to Monday. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR BEING UNDERSTANDING DURING THIS EXTRAORDINARY CHAIN OF EVENTS. So, everyone who WAS the high bidder when the site crashed is STILL the high bidder, at exactly that price. And each of the auctions are once again "live" and anyone can bid on any of the 2,346 auctions. Here is what everyone can do to help us deal with this: 1) As I wrote in my email to you Sunday morning, there is no telling if this many additional thousands of people will also put "strain" on the bidding site on Monday (as they did Sunday), and cause slowdowns, or people to have trouble logging in, or staying logged on. If possible, please consider eliminating these risks by going to the auctions that interest you in advance of 3 PM CST MONDAY (when they all start to close), and placing your final bids BEFORE that time. 2) While we very much DO want you to go to the site NOW (and all the way up until 3 PM Monday CST). PLEASE help us (and Tim League) by NOT going on the site Monday between 3 PM CST and 7 PM CST, UNLESS you are actually going to bid on specific auctions. Please DON'T go on just "to see what is happening"! As soon as the last auction closes we will have a complete results gallery, and you can review the results then, WITHOUT putting extra "stress" on the site. Of course, this is far from ideal, but it is the best and most fair solution to a very difficult situation. If you had intended to be by your computer while the auctions were ending Sunday, and CAN'T be there Monday when they close, at least you have many hours between now and then to go to the auctions and place your final bids then instead of while they close. And if you were the high bidder when the auction(s) "seemed" to close, know that you may still win the auction(s), but you also may now be outbid. But you almost surely would have been outbid anyway, had the site not crashed. WE COULD NOT "PAUSE" THOSE AUCTIONS BECAUSE THE SITE WAS COMPLETELY FROZEN AT THAT TIME. We very much apologize to everyone for this most unfortunate chain of events. We have run 1,728,000 auctions (including million dollar auctions) without this every happening. We simply did not reckon with the amazing power of Mondo, and its many thousands of fans, and we are doing the best we can to be fair to everyone. <http://www.avg.com/email-signature?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail> Virus-free. www.avg.com <http://www.avg.com/email-signature?utm_medium=email&utm_source=link&utm_campaign=sig-email&utm_content=webmail> <#DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2> Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [email protected] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
