They were embedded for me after I just re-copied and pasted your links (not mine) - into my online Microsoft Outlook email program to write this reply - although the images look like they've been "auto-resized" by the software to avoid endless text margins - which discourages auto-wrap. Meanwhile, your poster is a beauty. It's been more than 10 years since I've last seen an unbacked / unused near mint folded Vertigo with the color scheme I best remember.
Meanwhile, you can also visit Bruce H's site and see all manner of Vertigo one-sheets in different shades on a single page - with a primo on linen that sold in September 2020 that was "very good to fine" - that had the best (subjective) shade I've seen. Bruce sold mine in May 2010 (imaged at the very bottom that was in "very good" condition on linen. But I also consigned a STONE MINT NEVER USED Vertigo WC in May 2012 for me (also imaged at the very bottom) that he attached a "fine" grade - (which was "fine" with me as he never grades higher than "fine"). I got that one from Lou Ann Wooley if people remember her. Meanwhile, you can see the "varying shades" of Vertigo one-sheets on a single page on Bruce's site here at the link below. https://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/film_title/VERTIGO%2520%2528%252758%2529/country/U.S./type/1sh/archive.html There are even two (2) "creamsicle" versions he sold in 2008 and in 2012. Appropriately, Bruce graded the 2008 version in "fair" condition and the 2012 version in "fair to good" condition. -d. Came out of a cubby-holed shelf from a shuttered poster distribution hub in Charlotte in the early 1970s. Someone could ID ones from this find by inventory numbers on the reverse, top right corner. These Vertigo pieces had been sitting there on that shelf in storage since 1958. I think my best buddy, Robby McClure, got a couple of them, too. Robbie also pulled something like nine mint Forbidden Planet one sheets from the same score and sold them to Bob Coleman - Rest his soul, one of the great old-school Hollywood poster dealers. Robbie bought a boat with the money and named it Forbidden Planet. Those were the days. Enjoy! He said it had only been unfolded once for his picture. I unfolded it a 2nd time for these photos and it’s been in a flat file since. My photo setup was designed to get a true and honest representation of color, detail and condition — no added sharpening and absolutely no added color saturation. Yuck. This was shot on a vacuum board with color steady strobes and color corrected, honestly, to the best of my ability so that I end up with good consistency between various batched of pictures. I guess it’s possible uploading to imgur for hosting (where they probably recompressing it) could slightly affect color representation. And of course the screen you are viewing it on might not be color correction, etc., etc... That all said, this is probably as close as you’ll come to a “reference" example. Apologies if the pics don’t embed… I never was quite sure how to do that here. https://i.imgur.com/hH4ni3N.jpg<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FhH4ni3N.jpg&data=05%7C01%7C%7C32bc547b741b4692236408db307d7f6c%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638157087784539173%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=Gu7Rd1HGE%2FRFsqJNgReXvNPtqhe1AFtbZNJmfR7XXSg%3D&reserved=0> https://i.imgur.com/aegyhXp.jpg<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FaegyhXp.jpg&data=05%7C01%7C%7C32bc547b741b4692236408db307d7f6c%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638157087784539173%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=wOfzSdwmWHflzDkdxujl8mWrmaCYbyOM1xkq%2BFe%2FXas%3D&reserved=0> On Mar 29, 2023, at 12:02 PM, Kirby McDaniel <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: I take your point. I have always called it vermillion. Yet we have seen, as has been pointed out that there are (almost) deep red variants of the poster as well as posters that are light orange. Most are in the range that was intended. It is safe to say that most have had some color shift since the day they were printed sixty-five years ago. So, my question is: is this poster sun-faded, or is it merely in the range of "lighter". Most of the posters that I have seen which are significantly sun-faded have some textural degradation of the paper itself. I have heard people lionize a deep red variant for the simple reason that it would "work better" with their decor. I kid you NOT. K.
