I think, as Anthony states,It can never be known with any certainty,
Pirsig suggests Dynamic Quality,
which is as close as an aware being can ever get. It would be conjecture
to go any further.
It is an intellectual loop just contemplaing this subject. Concepts of
concepts of concepts.
So in the end Pirsig is justified with placing it within cultural
convention but bear in mind
this shapes pre-intectual awareness also, it feeds into itself so there
is no clear division.
Reuben Abel comments that this can not be a generization but merely a
comment on the development
of an individual.
This is why I question the MOQ concept of a moral universe, by it's own
tenets, it can never be known.
It places it in the realm of a high quality idea with every other
concept. MOQ tells us that
there is no certainty not even of itself. MOQ can only be the gate to
intellectual freedom
it is not intellectual freedom itself. SOLAQI is using intellectual
freedom in experiential reality.
It doesent say drop it, it says work with it, this is the process of
caring described in ZMM.
I've been thinking about Pirsigs breakdown, I think he did drop SOM
thinking and was committed
because of it. I think for him to condone dropping SOM thinking is to
condone what culture terms
as insanity. This doesent go very far, a movement of percieved lunatics.
This is the line that
is danced. Pirsig conformed so to get the message out, he told them what
they wanted to hear
to be a free man and write his book, he must have realized no one was
going to buy into
a path to the insane asylum and padded Quality out with SOL. I think
this is what Bo sensed
too.
