This is another way Chan has become influenced by
Confuciansim, and also why Chan likes the Vimalakirti
Nirdesa Sutra, which is a true story about Vimalakirti
who was enlightened and was a layman. Vimalakirti saw
no need to veer from ones everyday living. This is
why Chan (Chinese), Son (Korean), and Zen (Japanese)
comments upon everyday living is enlightenment.
I admire the Jewish culture, too. I don't know
how much of their everyday living is still embedded in
their moral teachings, but this is a character of the
Middle East. I believe the Jewish intellectual level
was further commented upon by some rabbis called
Kabbalists. I don't know much about the Kabbal.
Islam also does espouse that their moral teachings be
embedded in their everyday living.

thanks.
