[Ian]
And your point ?

[Platt]
Socialism is not good.

[Arlo]
Really? And why does supporting a socialized military and a
socialized police force not make you a "socialist"? Should we
privatize these things? Does your unwillingness to turn the military
and the police over to the free market make you a "socialist"?

What about public libraries and public parks? Do you support them?
Should we abolish them in favor of bookstores and private resorts?
Are you a socialist if you favor public libraries and public lands?

What about a socialized currency? Are we socialists for supporting
this? Would abolishing these socialist programs (military, police,
library, lands, currency) be "good" if socialism is so "bad"?

What about public education? Forget about its problems and successes.
Are we "socialists" for having it at all? Should we abolish public
education and go back to the old days? Would that be "better"?

What about using the state to tell people who they can and who they
can not marry? Isn't that "socialist"? Why not? Or is this just
another one of those times when "freedom" is only really important
when its "freedom to be like Platt"?

Remember that to Micah, YOU are a socialist, Platt. It's all a matter
of focus. If you could stop using the word for idiotic rhetorical
propaganda, you may see that.
