[Platt] Compared to you, "Duh." [Arlo] Am I correct now that you assertion is that the only three things that have ever existed that could respond to DQ are "atoms, molecules and man"? If no, what else do you think was able to respond to DQ "in the past"?
Let's consider your statement that only a cat's molecules could respond to DQ, but not the cat itself. Okay. Let's go way back into paleohistory and find a cat, say a sabretooth or some such, back when a time when a cat's molecules could respond to DQ. There is this cat, standing on a hill. It's molecules are presumably "responding to DQ". Give me some speculation is to how those molecules are behaving differently than a moder tiger standing on a hill. What could I observe happening differently? Also, speculate, could there have been a time when both molecules and man were responding to DQ simultaneously on this earth? Was there ever a "man" who responded to DQ "as a man" while his molecules continued to "respond to DQ"? Or did molecules everywhere stop responding to DQ when they created "man"? Next, you've linked several times "free will" and "responding to DQ". Does this mean that molecules and atoms, when there were DQ-responsive, had "free will"? Why not? You then propose a world where things can "lose" the ability to respond to DQ. Speculate, could "man" ever lose this ability? Or is man's DQ-nature a now-and-forever endgame phenomenon? Finally, let's hypothesize about a man-ending asteroid, a cosmic event, maybe a biological war, that brings about the end of "man" on this planet. No more man. Do "molecules" suddenly start responding to DQ again? And by the way, your unwaivering adherence to the Writ of Pirsig would be more believable if didn't dismiss or ignore parts that don't suit you. At least I am honest when I disagree with the man instead of acting like a sycophantic apostle on day, and then dismiss entire elements of his work the next. Also, its a great ad hominem coming from the Great Man who supposedly abhors such "leftist" tactics. You simply can't answer my questions, and you lack the intellectual honesty to deal with that, so call me stupid and less intelligent than Pirsig. Whatever.
