Marsha:

Yesterday a first.  I saw a hummingbird.  They're quite common, but I
had never seen one before.

Ron;
ruby throated? they are the most common around my neck of the woods,
ever
see what they call a wood faire? they are a moth that fly like a humming
bird or a bee that looks like a moth. Get yourself a humming bird feeder
and hang it outside your window...the little critters'll love ya.

What is nice, and you may want to try this yourself, is ask the tree
removers to leave the trunk and carve a sculpture as homage to the tree.
or just leave it as is. Chipmunks, squirrels and woodpeckers need food
and lodging too. Allow the tree to keep providing and you also may
observe the wildlife. keep the brush and keep a pile at the wood line to
encourage rabbits and provide shelter to the sparrows and chickadees in
the winter months.

just some ideas
