On the food topic, and the impicit sustainabilty issues ... One of the things we've noticed about living in Alabama these last two years has been how easy it is to live a low-food-miles lifestyle. So much produce originates locally, cheaply and seasonally in these Southern US states, and so little needs much packaging, even when bought from the local (big evil capitalist) Walmart.
Paradoxically, I've never eaten more healthily, nor with a clearer conscience, than I have the last couple of years in the US. Gonna be harder to keep that up in Northern Europe.
