Are you doing "paint by numbers" now?
Craig

Nooooo. I had been working too much from photographs, and was getting in a rut. Now I'm learning about Matisse's application of paint and color by doing some copies. It's been great. My colors have never been as high-key as his, so it's a good stretch. And I'm not copying exactly, but playing. I think what's most exciting about Matisse is his use of patterns and textures. If you know Woman with the Hat, you know it's wild with color. The 005 is the fifth Matisse painting I've copied. Originally I was planning to copy 16, but I've not the patience. I might setup a few well patterned still lifes and do them in a Matisse-like style.

Do you paint? Or more to the point, what do you do besides sting like a bee?
