Hi Platt and Ham,

"The Intelligence and Security Committee, the parliamentary watchdog of the
intelligence and security agencies which has a cross-party membership from
both Houses, wants to press ministers to introduce legislation that would
prevent news outlets from reporting stories deemed by the Government to be
against the interests of national security.

Andre:

'Leftist' governments come aroud every so often, the bureacracy they inherit
and have to work with (being Permanent Public Servants) are arch
conservative, [lefty only by name], have loads of money (therefore loads to
lose) and want to keep things the way they are with minimum fuss and maximum
profits to themselves and their kind/benefactors/business associates etc
etc.

My hunch is that it is they who are pressuring the ministers.

Just another angle.

Andre
