I hope your point was that the experience of seeing a reproduction of
a Van Gogh painting is not the experience of seeing the painting
itself. And not the experience of painting it.

As I was reading this I immediately thought about Vincent van Gogh... we all
know what happened to him.
When I showed a reproduction of a van Gogh to one of my Chinese
colleagues it didn't do anything to her. Not a thing, no immediate
response...nothing.
