I hope your point was that the experience of seeing a reproduction of
a Van Gogh painting is not the experience of seeing the painting
itself.  And not the experience of painting it.

There was no way she could relate to it, it left her 'cold'. One day she
came to me with Virginia Woolf's 'Kew Gardens'. (not Woolf's best I admit).
She had no way of relating to it and was confused. She literally could not
make 'sense' of it. Even after I tried to explain, there was no
internal representational system (as in NLP) she could relate it to.
