John: > Physician heal thyself is an old and true saying. It speaks to the > propensity in human affairs for me to harp on what is bugging me. If its > buggin' me, then its cuz I got a problem. > Now I got no problem with aggression or coercion. I don't feel coerced and > I'm just not a very aggressive person. Furthermore, I don't even believe > coercion is possible.
Nick: Yes John, murder and stealing is possible. Initiating physical coercion happens. John: > I always have a choice in how I react or what I do in > any given scenario, Nick: Exactly. We have free-will. John: > if somebody tries to coerce me, it is a sort of problem > - by which I mean an exciting and interactive opportunity to indulge in a > little unexpected creativity - but uppermost the choice is mine on how to > react to coercive pressure. Nick: Fine. Get stabbed to death. "Indulge" as you say. John: > Most often I erase the coercive pressure by > deciding that I really want to go that way. Sometimes its good to get > pushed out of one's statically held inclination. Sometimes I smile and nod > and do what I was gonna do anyway and find that the threat dissapears once > its object is thwarted. Like I said, lots of opportunity. > So you can't really coerce me. I haven't been coerced in years. Nick: Ok? I think I realize you're still alive or who else is typing this if not John. And I'm glad nothing has been taken from you. Taxes are coerced from you though. You ever buy bread? If you don't pay the taxes, even if you want to pay them or not doesn't matter, you will have the police show up with a gun if you don't pay you property or income taxes. Again. You can choose and like to pay taxes. That's fine. That's your choice. But remember if you don't pay your taxes the point of the gun is coming. So whether or not you like to pay taxes it doesn't matter. You have to pay them anyways. You are physically forced to. John: > So being so autonomous and all, I really noticed an irony in these NAP posts > by Nick, which is "Man, you are really aggressively pushing this thing." Nick: I'm not being physical aggressive at all. This is called a computer. I type on it. My words are not physically hitting you like a baseball bat would. Definitions... lack of intellectual understanding, but are you here to learn or what? John: > Kinda funny when you think about it. > Or like RMP sez "Nobody is fanatical about the sun rising, you're only > fanatical about matters you hold in doubt." (paraphrased) Nick: Well it's not fanatical for people to not want others to murder them. It's quite a real life event. Nick -- Be Yourself @ mail.com!
