Ian,
I missed it. I thought it was much like the normal tirade between
those that like to verbally brawl. Even if one party felt physically
frightened, is that it, game over? I never thought of Nick's talk as
other than metaphorical. - When did intellect leave the stage? And
good sense? And I will confess that I did not give Nick's ideas a
fair hearing, because I was off into my own little, and I do mean
little, world.

IMHO It's not that it's against the rules to be frivolous or
disrepectful of "norms" - in a Kynical kinda way - that's a necessary
part of the process. The "rule" is that it has to be exceptional, not
general or exclusive or sustained - what may be a frivolous mental
exercise to the sender becomes an unhinged rant to the receivers.
Nothing irrecoverable though.
