I think so, Joe.  Different levels composed of different patterns using
different  logical rules.  You could say it is the shift in logic which
defines the shift in patterns.  Just off the top of my head.

So, there would be a mechanistic logic, a bio-logic, a socio-logic and
finally an intellectual logic which controls the game at differing levels of
perceived reality.

Makes sense.
