Andre, A sip is a sip. I know nothing of enlightenment, so where is this 'Still Zen After All These Years' interview, for I would like to read what RMP has had to say of such an enlightenment experience? In many quarters it is bad to speak of any such experiences. You know 'If you know you do not tell, if you tell you do not know.' On the other hand, a year ago I read a book by an American, a geek and a doctor (md), that explains all degrees of techniques, maps and experiences by one who thinks it is most healthy to talk about it. Look up Daniel M. Ingram. If one can get their philosophy from a book about motorcycle maintenance, then it seems okay to consider what someone like Ingram might have to say about the progressive meditative states. He's an interesting character too. You can get a podcasts of a few interviews with him from the Buddhist Geek website. So with this in mind, what has you worried?
What do you think? Andre: Hi Marsha, yes, I agree and I am intrigued (and perhaps slightly worried as well) by the 'Still Zen after All These Years' interview wherein Pirsig appears to suggest that to really understand Lila one needs to have gone through an 'enlightenment' experience (a la ZMM)...the 180 Zen and 360 Zen...after enlightenment ' and the world is exactly as it was when you left it' (but you are changed of course).
