Hi Ron,

Not be picky, but in your sentence "Socrates asks how would one know if they
are being taught virtue?" you mean Plato's don't you. Socrates didn't leave
us any of his thought in writing. I don't even think Socrates approved of
writing, and I don't think he would have approved of some of the techniques
used by Plato in the dialogues, either.

I think Andre's quote from Ant about sums it up

'Dynamic Quality is this upwelling...well it isn't anything I can tell
you. This is what you'll hear from the 'Zennies'. But you can discover
it if you work on it. But you won't discover it by conceptualisation
and this is a huge problem that Zen teaching has. You see it over and
over again and this is why they sound so screwy, in their koans and
everything. What they're trying to do is to get you to stop
conceptualising and start experiencing'. ( in McWatt,PhD,P69).

I think the question is a koan

I think Quality, or virtue is an understanding about experience
it may not be taught conventionally but one may point to the path
is this teaching virtue? some would say yes, others no

Socrates asks how would one know if they are being taught virtue?

a question everpresent in our quest

AHH the question of questions at the Moq discuss

The basis of the discussion in Plato's Protagoras.
Can Quality be taught?

Protagoras thought it could be taught, Socrates questioned this.
Pirigs original Bozeman paper on the subject, thought it could be
taught. I wonder, after two books and much thought, would he conclude
the same?
Can virtue be taught?

Is it a question of developing a desire for honosty?

would would Robert say?

Bob, have you taught us Quality?
