I loved Lila! Maybe it has something to do with being a female. Zen and the Art was great, but the whole book just seemed so male-oriented and exclusive of the female. But Lila starts with dancing, and romance and brings in Indians and then I got the thrill of my life when I hit Chapter 14 and the captain's interrogation of Lila, Pirsig described something I've known all my life but nobody had intellectualized before. It was like a burden lifted and I thought that this must be more than a writer - he's a shaman, a foot in two worlds and able to interpret one to the other. Sigh. I don't think there's anything sexier than a man who understands women. What do you see as your problem with Lila? > > Often I will digress into seeming nonsense and opinions, and often > the posts will become less about Pirsig and more about current > affairs, which can also be interesting once you get to know the > characters involved. > > (Carrie) I know what you mean! Cheers to you too. Sorry to hear about your southern affliction, but at least you've got nicer weather than us!
