Agree. I think you could make the argument that "tolerance" is
largely due to the S/O underpinnings of the culture, as discussed in
ZMM. "Ignorance" is another problem, one that is fueled by the sheer
amount of information overload in modern culture, the distrust of
media, and the "blindness" that the invisible hand must operate by
when the vast majority of this information is impossible to attain.
When you have a handful of local businesses, its easy to make
informed decisions, when you have dozens of international
conglomerates pushing goods produced all over the place, it is next
to impossible. But then many are tolerant of their ignorance as well...
