This is key to my interest in Pirsig and the MoQ.

Imperfect information gets worse the more of it we have, and the easy
approach is to recognize only the simple objective stuff. The cultural
S/O underpinnings as you say - if we're not sure who to trust we trust
the (apparently) objective - and miss the quality stuff.

Local engagement is probably the only real antidote ... but can we
really ignore the global machine ?
