This ought to be written in flaming letters. The MOQ is not another
philosophy inside the academical cup, but a new cup (can't say it any
other way) The only comparison I can think of must be the switch
from the social reality to the intellectual one, but the way the Western
transition is is described (in ZAMM) we enter the show "in at the
middle" the philosophers are already established persons, there
surely must have been an earlier time when queries outside the
mythological - god-run - social reality was unthinkable. However let
me expound.

The Greek event was intellect out of the social level in its many-god
stage and in my discussion with Khoo I ventured that the Oriental
culture had a similar intellect-from-a-many-gods social stage (the
Upanishads from the Veda period). The point is that that intellect-out-
of-a-multi-god-social level goes rather smooth, but - as we know -
simultaneously with intellect's emergence in Europe and Asia
something quite different took place in the Semitic area, the many-
gods coalesced into monotheism and this is infinitely stronger and we
witness how the Muslim culture defeats all advances from intellect.

And here is the clue. This social monotheism configuration that resists
all intellectual inroads corresponds to the Western intellect which has
coalesced into SOM and as fiercely resists all Quality advances - to
this day only Platt Holden and myself managing to see the true
context. And there are more likenesses, many muslim countries think
they are "modern" (intellectual) and democratic, they even have the
institutions - universities for instance - but what they teach is islam
and as such is a sham. Likewise, inside this small group many claim
to be MOQists and perfunctory condemn SOM, yet they are
nevertheless solidly moored in the SOM demonstrated by Gavin

"....the intellectual/individual level *is not about SOM*. i said
that explicitly. *it is about the interior world of imagination.*
we use imagination - that interior world - to construct SOM, SOL
    or any other concept!

See, he upholds the notion of the inner/outer distinction as reality's
fundamental divide and as long as this is maintained SOM rules.
Gavin however is small fry who so innocently flaunts SOM, and so is
poor Dave T. whose SOM isn't tried veiled at all, even smaller are
Ron and Andre. But there are more subtler SOMists around that has
more covert S/Os, DMB's Concept/Reality the most dangerous
because it, like virus, imitates the host's DQ/SQ. And then the noble
ones like Horse who just want to protect poor Pirsig, these are more
like SOM's "Mujahedins".
