He kept claiming that SOM is a "straw man, a position held by no one". Then
perhaps he can explain why you get so many Google hits when you search for it.
"objective subjective knowledge": 7.34 million hits
"objective vs subjective": 1.34 million hits
7.34 million and even 1.34 million is more than "no one" in my book...
And if you click on one of those links, you'll most probably get a rather
detailed explanation of what the two opposing views are, and there will probably
be no mentioning they might be anything short of pure, first-hand reality.
Perhaps you could click around some and print some examples you can read for
him. :) It could be interesting to hear his reply.
