Well, I simply spoke as someone that's read a reasonable amount of Fish's 
writings.  So, not "anybody's guess," because I'm guessing my guesstimation is 
a little more like, as they say, an educated guess.

And your quote from Pirsig is perfect: "universal" comes from "complete 
agreement," which is no Platonic method, and gives you no power to turn the 
universalness of Quality into a weapon.  Because as soon as "agreement" is 
broken, so does any power in the saying that it is a "universal source" 
evaporate.
