So Jon, avoiding the nits and picking the point ... I do take one
exception to your view ...

The "in our time" turning point aspect is illusory. Even at a basic
level, "now" is 25 / 35 years after Pirsig wrote, and anyway Pirsig
has been right for thousands of years. We have been at this crisis
point ever since SOMism took a hold. It's just the size of the world
shrinks as the pace of communication and penetration of technology
increases - so the crisis continues to worsen exponentially. But it's
the same crisis.

Northrop in fact pointed this out to Pirsig, but "nothing new under
the sun" has been a theme of mine.
