Well Craig, I dunno. Its arguable in terms of buffer vs expansion. Its also arguable in terms of communist expansion vs russian expansion. You could say that the social pattern of communism took over Russia and then spread outward from there. Or you could say that Russia used the social pattern to expand Russian influence.
One thing for sure, I'm glad its over. Nobody likes iron curtains restricting freedom of people.
