The belief that there is a "the one and true... fill in the blank," is the mark of the fundamentalist, the extremist, the "true believer". This is a way of thinking, a "how" people think mentioned a while back. When you think like this, in terms of the "one" and the "true', whatever you have to say is going to sound creepy.
