Thank you nom for the link. Pirsig taught rhetoric and this talk continues the false dichotomy of theisim-atheism as identical with the opposition of religion and science. The opposite of science is not religion but art. As de Bono taught so many years ago the yes-no form of logic can only confirm the validity of a solution. The methods of normal logic do not necessarily lead to a solution in the absence of a creative hypothesis. The methods of science lead to technology, the equivalence of mass and energy lead to Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Science kills as many as religion. Pirsig's two works, Lila and ZMM are both literary works subject to interpretation. They are works of art. No two individuals will experience them exactly the same. That is what in my opinion the Metaphysics of Quality was invented for. Pirsig argued,in my opinion, that we all have an intuitive sense of quality. In my opinion,Lennox is more open to quality. Dawkins more wants to codify and make static that which is beautiful. He has less quality. Maybe that is a solution to the age old debate of religion being opposed to science. But the MOQ with its foundation in art is continuously creative and can not be contained.
